Mothering the Bones

"Mother is the ground of being.
Mother is the source we come from.
Mother is emptiness and fullness.
We are born of Mother.

Bones are the last of “us” to decompose.
Bones are dense, and also porous.
Bones are echo locators- master orienters.
We can find ourselves in space through our bones.

Being deeply located is true grounding.
This is how we become divining rods and grounding rods."

Mothering The Bones

Mothering the Bones is a hands-on practice developed by Kimberly Ann Johnson, dedicated to tending to the territory of the female pelvis. A session is about moving what is held/stuck in our pelvis. This is the centre of our wisdom as womxn.  It is a process of consent renegotiation, with the option of various pelvic holds, nervous system tracking with attuned awareness both from practitioner and client. This mutual presence creates space, safety and trust for unprocessed experiences to surface and be integrated.  Our body's wisdom can have the light of our non judgemental awareness it needs to untangle, and re-member its innate rhythms of safety and connection.

It is particularly effective for birth recovery, sexual boundary rupture repair, recovering from a traumatic birth, surgical healing, and gynecological memory.

Kimberly Ann Johnson developed MTB through working with thousands of women.  It is the integration of her somatic, sexological bodywork, trauma, and relational work. A body-wisdom practice that meets the pelvis, the womb, the bones, and the memory they carry.   In June 2025 Kimberly held her first apprenticeship course in the UK. I am honoured to be one of these women who are taking on her lineage, and with her blessing we can offer this work.
